Canon, world-leader in imaging solutions has announced the introduction of the new CR-2 Plus, a non-Mydriatic camera with Fundus Autofluorescence (FAF) capabilities. Incorporating Canon EOS digital SLR technology, this high-end Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera has a unique 18 - megapixel digital camera adapted specifically for ophthalmic photography. This dedicated camera with EOS technology was specifically developed for Canon's retinal cameras. This unique camera has been created for optimal retinal imaging and allows the CR-2 Plus to offer the best possible image quality, whilst remaining compact and lightweight for ease of handling
FAF imaging for the diagnosis of retinal disease is a relatively new diagnostic technique that provides more information on the health of the retinal pigment epithelium. It has become increasingly popular due to its non-invasive nature.
The CR-2 Plus works with the widest range of ISO settings so that the eye care professionals can choose to use very low ISO speeds to attain the best possible image without compromising on quality. The low flash mode in combination with higher ISO values will not cause the pupil to constrict after flash, meaning images can be taken in quick succession.
The CR-2 Plus comes complete with software optimised workflow and provides the option to seamlessly connect to hospital networks and practice management systems and is fully DICOM compliant.
